"Alte Wacht" in the Grossarl valley

Waggerl-Stube in the Grossarl valley

The „Alte Wacht“ at the entrance of the Grossarl valley is the backdrop for readings and music. The Salzburg poet Karl Heinrich Waggerl is patron at this event during the Salzburg Mountain Advent.

The "Alte Wacht" is opened every Saturday and Sunday from 26. 11. till 18. 12. 2011 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Your visit to the Salzburg Mountain Advent in the Grossarl valley leads you to the „Alten Wacht“ as well. A live nativity scene expects you as well as the mulled wine stand and cookies and bread tasting. In the „Karl Heinrich Waggerl Stube“, poems created by the Salzburger poet are read. The event is also accompanied by Christmas music from Karl Heinrich Waggerls' time.

Alte Wacht Grossarl

The „Alte Wacht“ is located next to the Landstrasse in St. Johann after Grossarl. In earlier days, the only way to the valley led directly under the Wacht house. During the time of the Black Plague, the Wacht was used to harbor soldiers from infection.

Perhaps you would like to visit the "Alte Wacht" directly on your way into the valley? Reserve a table at a restaurant for your day trip or a room at a hotel for your ski holiday. Here you can make a non-binding inquiry for your visit.
