Großarl

The town of Grossarl is the center of Grossarltal. Spend a wonderful family holiday full of Christmas spirit at the traditional Salzburg Advent Market.

Grossarl has a population of approximately 3.800 people in the main portion. The center of the village is at an elevation of 924 m, with the highest mountain being the Gamskarkogel reaching 2.467 m. The romantic town is known for its ski area.

 

You will also find many attractions and events at the Salzburg Mountain Advent in Grossarl. The advent market is one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the Salzburg region. The one-of-a-kind flair of the market place and the many church lights are a sight to remember. The market stands and exhibitors are a wonderful addition to the scenery with Christmas decorations to be seen throughout the entire village.


Hüttschlag

Hüttschlag was once a mining town. In winter, it is the place to find peace and quiet in the Salzburg region. The holiday program during advent is also something special to experience.

Approximately eight kilometers into the valley passed Grossarl is the town of Hüttschlag. A portion of the national park "Hohe Tauern" has been part of the village since 1991. Hüttschlag has a population of approximately 900 and is at an elevation of 1.020 m above sea level. The highest mountain in the area is the Keeskogel at 2.882 m.

 

With the free ski bus you are perfectly connected to the Grossarltal-Dorfgastein ski area. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ski touring are particulary popular locally.
